Worst Movies of 2022
I don't mind that movies are being rebooted, remade/reimagined or that we finally get that long-awaited sequel. Most of them are not great or even good when compared to the original, but there are a few that are and those are ones that I'm happy to see. The following are not among those that I would consider good. In no particular order, here are the worst movies that I saw in 2022.
Halloween Ends
I enjoyed what Halloween (2018) did. Bringing back Jamie Lee Curtis and playing off the first film was smart. Halloween Kills wasn't a personal favorite, but it definitely amped up the kills and took Michael Myers to a new level. Halloween Ends was simply a mess. The direction the movie went was more of a philosophical one and relied too much upon the point that evil never dies. Which I believe is not what most fans wanted to see. Yes we did get to see Jamie Lee for a small bit and they did end Michael, but the story was very disappointing.
Jurassic World: Dominion
Jurassic Park (1993) is a personal favorite and one of the best films ever made. Jurassic World (2015) didn't live up to the first, but it was at least fun. Jurassic World: Dominion was not fun, it ran long and was rather dull. I had this on my most anticipated movie list for 2022 due to the original and new casts coming together. There was such potential for something fun in my head. The acting was just bad. The story was a mess, it tried to do way too much. We also didn't need new dinosaurs. The ones we had from the other films were terrifying enough. This movie is such as waste.
Thor: Love and Thunder
I haven't been the biggest fan of the Thor movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I like the character and Chris Hemsworth playing him. He's really good in the other MCU movies. But there is something about the Thor movies. Thor (2011) was only good while they were in Asgard. Thor: The Dark World (2013) was boring. Thor: Ragnarok (2017) was fun, but a little too over the top for me. Taika Waititi took what he did in Ragnarok and dialed it to 11 with Love and Thunder. That mixed with his massive ego really didn't sit well with me. Korg was a fun character and I was saddened when I thought he was dead, but of course, Waititi didn't let him die. No, let's have him carry forward in one of the most ridiculous ways. The goats were funny initially but quickly became annoying. And the relationship between Thor and his weapons was too weird for me. The only redeemable thing about this movie for me was Christian Bale as Gorr, The God Butcher, but we didn't get enough of him.
The Requin
This movie was full of cringe and it should only be referenced for how not to make a shark movie. Please avoid otherwise.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
I loosely remember the plot to this movie. The bus scene is really the only one that stood out and that wasn't because it was good. I found it to be a little ridiculous. I didn't want to torture myself and watch it again to recall all the things that I disliked. I advise you don't waste your time with this one.
